Understand skin to understand skincare
It’s human nature to take things for granted. We all too often overlook the kind gestures afforded to us each and everyday. Our skin is probably one of the most under appreciated assets. Have you ever stopped to think about the sheer enormity of your skin’s role in your day to day life? Everything it does for you? Because it’s no slouch – your skin is working overtime. Your skin works harder for you than anything else out there and all it gets in return is mistreatment. Lets take a minute to pay homage to the humble dermis.
Firstly, your skin is the largest organ in your body. The average adult has about two metres worth of skin – about the size of a blanket – which accounts for over 15% of their total body weight. On top of that, each aspect of our skin is uniquely tailored to fit to the body part it is covering. For example, the skin is thickest on the soles of our feet (generally measuring around 3mm thick) and thinnest at our eyelids (clocking in at a far daintier 1mm).
It’s all part of what makes your skin a fascinating system with a very important core purpose: to protect your internal self from external ills. And that could mean bacteria, poisonous chemicals… or just the elements. On top of that, it’s also responsible for how you look to others. It’s your first impression of your health and beauty. The skin undergoes all of this pressure each and every day. No wonder it starts to degrade over time. It’s burning out!
Never fear though, because our skin not only enjoys its job, it excels. It’s a highly specialized, highly qualified worker and just like every worker, it needs the right TLC to perform as required.
Firstly, you need to speak to your skin in the right language. Skin speaks ‘au naturel’. It’s a natural organ with very natural processes. We only want to apply products that speak the same language as our skin – products with natural active ingredients that will work with
our body’s natural processes to naturally produce healthier, smoother skin. Feed it naturally to let it perform naturally.
Synthetic collagen for example is a big no no. Yes collagen is important, but ideally we want collagen produced by our own bodies. If your body doesn’t produce it, then your body doesn’t want it. Choose products that stimulate your bodies’ natural collagen producing process.
Maintaining a natural balance
Have you ever noticed that your skin will respond in different ways to different seasons – or even to different environments?
When it is windy, your skin can become cracked and dry.
When it is wet, it can become water-logged and wrinkly.
When it’s hot and humid, it can become over-heated and oily.
So when it comes to skincare it makes sense to turn to nature with an understanding of the push and pull that external elements like these can have on our skin. Nature has a huge effect on our largest organ – so let’s take a natural approach to skincare!
It’s all about keeping a natural balance. Everything in life and nature has a natural rhythm, and a consistent use of the right skin care products contributes to the improved wellbeing of your skin by strengthening its natural process.
What products to choose?
So what makes a skin care product right for you? Well for starters, look at your chosen skin care product as an investment – try to select brands that will invest in you with proper research and development procedures.
For example, our research and development team at Beenigma found that bee venom was the perfect example of what we were talking about earlier – an ingredient that interacts with the skin in a very natural and predictable way.
The research and development team discovered that when bee venom is applied to the skin topically, the skin responded by producing elastin and collagen. The result: an increase in the proteins, encouraging a beautiful, healthy glow in the skin.
And it’s not just the bee venom: the rest of the product’s ingredients were carefully selected so that they could be combined seamlessly to sync in with the body’s natural processes for skin improvement.
Here at Beenigma we want to form real, long-term relationships with our clients. We strive to ensure that our products will produce visible results, and the best way to do that is to have a real understanding of how our skin works and approach the problem with nature in mind.
In short, skincare products should be genuine partners with your skin, and the skincare companies should be genuine partners with you
in the fight against anti-aging. That is our mission here at Beenigma.
Seek out the best nature has to offer
Civilisations have been creating skincare products for thousands of years – in fact, moisturiser was being applied as far back as the Mesolithic age over 10,000 years ago, only back then it took the form of animal fat smeared straight onto the skin. Things have improved quite a bit since then!
And our understanding of how things work has improved a quite bit since then, too. That’s why here at Beenigma we’re proud to be at the forefront of naturally active skincare. You deserve to have your skin feel more than just pampered, soothed and nurtured; you deserve to have some natural skin rejuvenation too!
